Sacramento Food Policy Council

Our organization is a fiscally sponsored not-for-profit community association in Sacramento County. Our mission is to advance justice through equity practices that lift up community priorities to advance policy, systems, and environmental change. We convene policymakers and stakeholders around a collaborative and shared agenda for a more resilient, just, equitable and sustainable food system. Our organization brings to the table more than 7 years of experience in community organizing & advocacy, research, and policy development. Together with partners, SFPC is conducting the Sacramento County Food System Assessment that will inform the County Food Action Plan. We are participating in the CERF planning project to contribute our expertise, history, and knowledge of environmental justice policies (SB1000); equity-centered governance; capacity building & technical assistance on complex policy issues; community engagement; and data, research, and evaluation to help shape the high road equitable food system careers of tomorrow.
