Anti-Recidivism Coalition

Our organization is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to end mass incarceration in California. To ensure our communities are safe, healthy, and whole, ARC empowers formerly and currently incarcerated people to thrive by providing a support network, comprehensive reentry services, and opportunities to advocate for policy change. Through our grassroots policy advocacy, we are dedicated to transforming the criminal justice system so that it is more just and equitable for all people. Although we were founded in Los Angeles and most of our reentry service population (“Members”) remain there, we opened a secondary office in Sacramento in 2016 and have over 500 Members in the Sacramento region, to whom we provide intensive case management, support attaining education and stable housing, workforce development, clinical therapy and support groups, and opportunities for systems- change advocacy. As providers of both wraparound reentry services and rehabilitative programming inside local state prisons and juvenile facilities, we are one of Sacramento’s leading community-based organizations working on issues of criminal justice and mass incarceration. Our organization brings to the table nearly a decade of experience addressing the needs of formerly incarcerated individuals and the expertise of the nearly 90 percent of our staff who are system-impacted themselves, including 100 percent of our Executive Leadership team. As one of Sacramento’s leading community-based organizations working on issues of criminal justice, we hope to elevate the voices of those with lived experience of incarceration in the CERF process in order to ensure equitable and meaningful representation of this population when planning for the economic resiliency of the Sacramento region.
