Elisa Herrera is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Latino Leadership Council (LLC), the region’s only Latino-focused non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the wellness and leadership capacity of Latino populations.
She brings 25 years of experience in the development and implementation of community outreach & media relations campaigns, program development, grant development, communications and organizational development and management.
She was instrumental in the development and growth of the LLC, working with county and private partners to create and grow the Promotora program as a means of improving outcomes for Latino families. She has developed numerous partnerships with medical professionals, family resource centers, youth development groups, faith-based organizations, corporations, foundations and business communities to create a pool of culturally competent services.
She participates in numerous hiring panels for various organizations and government agencies, providing culturally competent guidance and supports to hiring teams to maximize successful onboarding and employment practices, and coordinated the development of Leadership with Latinidad, a career advancement and leadership program that strengthens the knowledge, skills and confidence around equity and social justice dialogues.
She serves on various committees, including SACOG’s Race Equity and Inclusion Workgroup;
Placer County’s SPEAC Policy Development Committee, Race, Equity, Access, Diversity and Inclusion workgroup (READI), Resilient Placer, and Mental Health Services Act.
Elisa has a Master’s in Mass Communications from the University of Denver and a Bachelor’s in Public Relations and Journalism from the University of Southern Colorado.
