Capital Region Biotech Talent Partnership
Building pathways to biotech careers through strategic training, equity, and industry alignment.
Sacramento Employment and Training Agency, Capitol Impact, Wexford Connect Labs (located at Aggie Square), and the City of Sacramento Office of Innovation & Economic Development are thrilled to partner and launch the Capital Region Biotech Talent Partnership. This initiative is aimed at strengthening Sacramento’s biotech workforce by expanding employer-driven training solutions and increasing access for disinvested communities. Through the Talent Pipeline Management (TPM) Biotech Collaborative, the initiative will align training programs with employer needs, address talent shortages, and establish clear career pathways in high-demand biotech fields. Key strategies include expanding employer partnerships, launching real-time workforce forecasting tools, piloting talent financing models, and designing work-based learning programs. Strategic partners, including the Biocom California Institute, California Department of Rehabilitation, and Thermo Fisher, will support our pilot employers, Orca Bio and Jackson Labs, with equitable implementation and regional field building. The initiative will culminate in the 2026 Sacramento Region Biotech Symposium, showcasing regional collaboration and attracting future investments. By removing barriers and fostering inclusive workforce development, this effort positions Sacramento as a leading biotech hub.
