Yuba Sutter Food Hub Feasibility Study

Yuba Sutter Food Hub Feasibility Study

Bridging local farmers with markets to strengthen food systems.

The Yuba Sutter Food Bank will conduct a comprehensive feasibility study to explore the development of a food hub in the Yuba Sutter region, serving as an aggregation point for local small farmers to access larger institutional markets. This initiative will address critical gaps in the local food system by connecting diverse producers, including underserved Hmong farmers and small-scale operations, with schools, hospitals, and other institutions while creating economic opportunities in the agricultural sector. Building upon previous Rural-Urban Connections Strategy work, the study will analyze market potential, assess supply capacity, evaluate sustainable facility options, and develop a phased implementation approach. The proposed food hub aims to strengthen food supply chain resilience, reduce climate impacts through decreased transportation emissions, and support the Blue Zones vision of community health and well-being through improved access to fresh, local food.
